Available for an ArcGIS organization licensed with the Indoors extension.
You or a portal administrator must import the license file for ArcGIS Indoors into your portal. You can then set permissions for members of your organization and certain functionality in ArcGIS Pro. Once you set permission levels for members and enable access to ArcGIS Pro functionality, they will be able to access the Indoors tools in ArcGIS Pro after they install the Indoors component and successfully connect to your portal.
Import the license for Indoors
Indoor Space Planner checks for the Indoors extension when trying to connect to a portal. You or a portal administrator must import the license file for ArcGIS Indoors into your portal for the app to be able to successfully connect to it.
Perform the following steps to import the license file:
- Import the license file through your portal.
- On the Licenses tab, confirm that ArcGIS Indoors is listed as an organizational extension.
- Click Organization extensions.
- Verify that ArcGIS Indoors is listed.
Set up access for ArcGIS Pro
Perform the following steps to set permissions for the members of your organization who will need to use ArcGIS Pro:
- Assign the GIS Professional Advanced user type to the named users in your organization who will have access to ArcGIS Pro.
- Grant these named users access to the following extensions:
- 3D Analyst
- Data Interoperability
- Data Reviewer
- Network Analyst
- Production Mapping
- Assign these named users the Publisher role.
Members of your organization who need to use ArcGIS Pro must connect to this portal before using the ArcGIS Indoors tools.
Configure the security certificate
Your portal must have a valid SSL certificate from a trusted entity for Space Planner to run without warnings. Web browsers have built-in security features that prevent connection to servers that do not have a valid certificate.
If your organization uses self-signed or Enterprise CA certificates for Space Planner, exceptions must be added in some browsers to be able to access the Space Planner URL. This can be very disruptive, so the recommendation is to use a trusted certificate signed by a certificate authority.
Configure the identity store
The portals for ArcGIS Enterprise and ArcGIS Online are designed so you can use enterprise accounts and groups to control access to your ArcGIS organization. Use an enterprise identity store to set policies for password expiration and complexity, control access using existing enterprise groups, or leverage authentication.
Indoors supports built-in authentication, IWA, SAML, LDAP, and PKI.
Create users and assign roles and types
When you create users, check the type of users available for details about assigning roles and access.
Enable permissions in your organization
Space Planner requires people to sign in before use. To successfully create, export, or merge a plan, you need to have the appropriate level or permissions. To create and export plans, members of the portal need to have the Data Editor role or higher. To merge plans, an Administrator role is required.
For printing to work from Space Planner, the portal must have a valid print service set up. Space Planner requires the Map Only print service in the portal for printing directions.
